Teen Volunteers

Volunteers are what keep the Bella Vista Public Library running! We'd love to have you join our team of hardworking and fun loving volunteers! As a teen volunteer, you'll have the great opportunity to gain experience working in an office setting, develop new skills, and it looks great on a college application! Teen volunteers must be between 14-17 years old. Plus, you can gain eligibility for the Friends of the Library college scholarship!

Children's Department Assistant Description:
These volunteers assist the Children’s Librarian in the efficient running of the Bella Vista Public Library – Children’s and Teens department. Volunteers help the staff deliver outstanding customer service to our patrons.

ELIGIBILTY:

  • 14 to 18 years of age
  • Able to follow directions
  • Able to perform volunteer tasks without consistent supervision
  • Able to physically move books and book carts
  • Must abide by all library rules and policies
  • Must be able to commit to consistent scheduled volunteer times
VOLUNTEER DUTIES:
  • Cleaning, Shelving, and Maintaining materials
  • Pulling requested books for story times
  • Assisting with Children's programming, such as Storytime, Summer Reading Events, etc.
  • Research projects as assigned
  • Creating and aiding craft preparation
  • Creating displays
  • Copying materials
  • Provide assistance before and during the program with sign-in and crowd control
  • Assist with clean-up after the conclusion of programs
  • Other duties as needed.

(Teen volunteers are not permitted to work the circulation desk)
